It's Monday (or any day at my house, really), and I'm looking through my recipe box, searching for a recipe that I haven't made in awhile, that I know I can make and have come out of the oven edible and hopefully appetizing. Nope, can't find one. I hop on the computer, googling through blogs, sites, and various links, only to be overwhelmed. I click on one or two, see that the first recipe listed is "Lamb chops" or something along the lines of "trifles," "streussels," or (the most recent search-killer) "Chutney with Brie on Crostini." WHAT??!!
The most amazing part of my escapades is always the outlandish number of followers these bloggers have. I'm talking upwards of 6,000 people, people!! REALLY?! Can that many people make those ridiculously difficult-to-me-looking meals?? Am I the only one who has no idea what tabbouli is? Or the one soul in the world who doesn't cook with bourbon? Maybe my kids are the only kids who won't eat tofu unless it's in a taco shell with lots of tomato sauce and taco seasoning, but I have the same job as all of the women on these blogs, and that's cooking for my family.
I don't plan on taking fabulous, mouth-watering photographs of my meals. I might have fun with pictures every now and again...Heck, they don't taste that good, so maybe I can make everyone salivate just by looking at them!
However this goes, I'm going to blog about it. I am going to keep my faithful few recipes in one spot, easily categorized and laid out in simple cooking language even I can understand. If you're "Not a Cook at Heart" like me, I hope you'll find reprieve in my simple recipes and kid-friendly meals. (And if you ARE a cook at heart, either come cook at my house or keep your 10-word recipe names to yourself!)
Here goes nothin', folks! We have families to feed!!
